This appears to have been demolished for a CVS.

When my husband & I were young newly-weds, who were on a stringent budget and living in Miami, we would treat ourselves to lunch once in awhile at the 79th St & Biscayne Blvd. Arthur Maisel's. The Mushroom and Barley Soup was absolutely delicious, as were the rolls served with it and the various deli delights such as kosher pickles, sauerkraut etc. which were on the counter in containers so you could take some on a plate that was provided along with the bowl of soup. The total cost for the two of us was less than a dollar and a 1/2. Ahh.... good old 1958.:)

I believe this became the Old Key West Restaurant, open in the late 70’s early 80’s. The inside was made to look like streets and shops in old Key West, albeit a fanciful rendition of it. You could sit at the ice cream parlor, or other shops, and it was a seafood restaurant. If you had any leftovers, they would give them to wrapped in tin foil shaped into swans, or other creations.

Martha , the Image was in the old bowling alley , same shopping center though ,I think. it was a great place to see some of the best bands at the time

The building is still there, but unfortunately not the great glass windows. The Google Street View map from last year, has a covered up front (wood?), with the words "Diner Restaurant"

In the late 60's early 70's this was the Image disco/nightclub.

Well I was online searching old pics of miami and i came across this photo and i am happy to say that this building is very much intact and i might be a church or sumthing now, but i was just there 2 weeks ago building a new school and on my way to pick up my lunch i had to walk throu the front of this building and always admired the structure but I dident think its been around that long....

My mother was a waitress at the 79th St Maisel's/Juniors around 1959-1961, and I would often pick her up after her shift was over around midnight. Quite often I would arrive early to have time for a hot pastrami on rye, which at that time used the very fatty but flavorful meat that seems impossible to find now outside of the NE United States. At that time there were several kosher deli restaurants in Miami and the beach, including Wolfie's, but even they have closed, being replaced by a parking garage at last report.

There was another Arthur Maisel's on the East side of the Biscayne Shopping Center at 79th Street and Biscayne Boulevard. It became a Junior's Restaurant and lasted for years... later evolving from that to a sub-divided property - the front portion was a Payless Shoe Store and later a McDonald's... and the back portion was at one time a dollar store.

I do believe the location pictured eventually became Kelly's Seafood House, owned by the same partners that owned Black Angus Restaurants...
