The Whelan's location went under many ownerships, the last being CVS. Currently CVS has moved mid-block and this is now one of two gigantic beach/souvenir stores across the street from one another.

Guest from 16-FEB-2014, might you be thinking of the Turf Bar & Grill in the first block of Ocean Drive opposite the park on the ocean? It was there for quite a while.

I used to work on the Government Cut during early 60's - right next to the Miami Beach Dog Track - there used to be a bar not far from there that had a very long hammered copper bar top - used to enjoy drinks there after getting off work - can't remember the name of that bar - hope someone has more on that - thanks for the great pictures

Anybody remember the ice cream parlor on Lincoln Road where you could get a "Kitchen Sink" filled with ice cream? Can't for the life of me remember the name. 50's and 60's.

Thanks so much for this pic. For many years I would go to the drug store after the beach and shopping with my Aunt Marie for ice-cream soda's in the afternoon. This brings back so many wonderful memories. My Aunt Marie was very special. This pic means a lot to see the site the way it was then. I can close my eyes and just dream of having my family back again during those happy two weeks we all spent together during the month of July. Helene
