Actually, Don...

Kwik-Chek became the corporate name in the 1950s after the Davis Brothers renamed their corporation.

Starting out with Table Supply, they also acquired the Margaret-Ann stores, Winn-Lovett Markets and the Dixie Food Stores (among others).

Eventually they adopted the Winn-Dixie name for their overall branding and corporate identity , but I still prefer "Kwik Chek"... it sounded more shopper-friendly...

James, you are correct. That is a Kwik-Chek grocery store and Kwik-Chek had stores all over South Florida before being acquired by the larger Winn-Dixie grocery chain. Winn-Dixie kept the check mark logo and added it to their Winn-Dixie logo. I can't find the date of Kwik-Chek's acquisition by Winn-Dixie but suspect that it was in the late 1960's or early 1970's. This site tells about how Winn-Dixie got their start in Dade County:

Someone below commented about a Winn-Dixie being in the shopping center, but if you look at the sign on the very right-hand side you will see the "Kiwk-Check" sign, which is what Winn-Dixie was known as at the time.

My old High School, St. Brendan's High, did a few car washes behind this Shell. The WVCG 1080 AM towers would be just to the right and behind the store.

There's a McDonald's here now, with a shopping center in the back housing a...yes, a Winn Dixie. Just realized that this is one of the few areas in town without a Publix nearby.
