Guest, thank you for informing us of your dad's death 40 years ago. Your dad's name of Ed "Mark 'em Down" Lane is also ingrained into many many memories of those who grew up down here.

Thank you everyone else for your comments. Chuck Stewart, you are a godsend when it comes to all those great old videos and thank you for sharing them with so many people on the internet.

Just happened on this site. Searching for info on Municipal Auto Sales in Warwick, RI. Had no idea another existed. The one in Warwick goes back 40 years.

"You get the best for less at MAS!"

Good Gawd.......I can't believe I found this site by accident. I was the director of these commercials at WLBW-TC, Ch 10 when the studio was at 2133 NW 11th Ave next to a garbage truck depot. We had to spray the studio every night with fly killer so Molly Turner had a fly free studio when she came in to do the morning show.

J.J Ob and Don, I would have never remembered Jumpin Jack w/o this site. Thanks again Don. I think I grew up about 5 or 6 streets north of where you lived Jack. Weren't you just south of 136th street right off 83rd Ave?? Also, didn't you used to "smack" the sides of the cars on your commercials after you announce the vehicle and at the moment you would announce the price, i.e., Hi, I'm Jack Obrien, MAS, and this great Corvette can be purchased for "bam" $2195? My Mom was Hy Stanton a producer at WLRN (Ch 17). She retired in the late 80s and died in 1990. Did you know her by chance?

This particular picture was actually taken at the lot on NW 36th Street...the one and only time we ever did a "remote" from there. All other commercials were actually done at the television stations..."out the back door" so to speak. This night was a particularly wonderful time, cause we could show the cars and the satilittle and the big MAS sign...it took me months to convince the owner of Municipal, Merrill Friedman, to do a "live" shot...it cost a lot of money, but it was worth it...we did get a ton of comments!
