I remember a brewery you could see from 7th ave & later I-95 , named National Bohemian ..they had the cartoon guy with the roaring 20's hair & thin rim specs on their ads & cans of beer

kodachrome - I recall that the Regal Beer brewery was nearly adjacent to Miami Stadium, the home of the Miami Marlins, the AAA Baltimore Orioles team.

Regal was brewed by American Brewing Company of New Orleans. In 1939 American purchased the Wagner Brewery of Miami and changed the name to Regal, the Prince of Beers. They also brewed a Pale Ale to go along with their light golden Lager. In the late 1950s it was sold to Anhauser Busch who kept the name for a few years until the introduction of Busch Beer which served as Budweiser's loss leader (or cheaper beer). For a while Anhauser Busch had both the King of Beers and the Prince of Beers. I'm not sure what National you are referring to but I don't remember it from the 50s or 60s. National Brewing Company of Baltimore did not have a brewery in Miami, they were sold in the 1970s to Miller Brewing and distributed by Pabst Brewing. Their signagture National Bohemian Beer had a real in with Baseball thanks to the Baltimore Orioles and for a time it was the official beer of the old AAA Miami Marlins baseball team in the 60s.

Bob, the brewery was located on 5th ave at about 15th St. The old RC bottling co was on 7th ave. Regal was across from the old Birdland night club.

The Regal Brewery was on NW 7 Ave about NW 13 St. My Dad had a grocery store, Quality Food Market, on the corner of NW 7 Ave and NW 15 St. We were across the street from the old Suncrest Soda plant. This was through the in the Sixties. Both Regal and Suncrest were lost to the 95/836 Interchange that was built there in the Seventies.

I remember Regal, or was it Blatz, having a brewery on NW 7th Avenue somewhere south of NW 29th Street but nowhere near the Miami River. Don

The National Brewing Company was located on the Miami River and brewed both Regal Beer and National Beer. In the 1960's, it was purchased by (I believe) Annheuser-Busch and gradually phased out (to reduce competition). I once owned a recording of Nation Beer jingles (commercials) that went... National Beer, National Beer You'll like the taste of National Beer For pleasant living any time of year You'll like the taste of National Beer
