WFUN 790AM promotional car on Flagler Street during United Way benefit

Miami, Florida

In front of Dade Federal Savings & Loan Association. In the background is the Biscayne Building, Grant's, McCrory's and Jackson's (later named Jackson-Byron's).

Jeff wrote in to give some facts regarding the photo: "The WFUN car shot was taken by Robert M. Kelley in the early 1960's for the United Way. A thermometer was painted on Flagler Street, and the "mercury level" was painted in until they reached the top (their goal)."

A YouTube video of WFUN's last day on January 6, 1976, by reporter Bob Mayer of WTVJ-TV, is at:

Robert M. Kelley was my uncle...my father Jack Kelley's brother. Both gone now.

WQAM was a cool station but it was WFUN for me. I remember having my 6 transistor radio tucked under my pillow at night with WFUN playing my favorite 60's music...Beach Boys and the Beatles.
