The Marine Corps Reserve kept several AMTRAC's on Peanut Island for training purposes and they used to haul ass over the island interior where the fill from the port dredging was piled pretty high. They came in handy in getting heavy equipment transported from the mainland to our station on the island. I remember they brought over about 10 heavy window air-conditioners for us when the station house was air-conditioned for the first time in the summer of 1967.
