Buster the St. Bernard was our station mascot and he lived a very good and exciting life. He was the subject of newspaper articles and loved by a lot of people at the time. He normally slept on our front porch, or inside on the ground floor after we had air-conditioning installed for the first time in the summer of 1967 (see window unit in background). We coerced him to sack out in this rack as a prank on SN Brewster who was in the shower at the time.
This was the seaman's quarters located on the east side of the second floor of the station house. The head and showers were immediately to the right as you exited this room.
