1965 - Mary Ann Knight at Haulover Beach

This photo was taken on one of our many dates involving the beach in the spring and summer of 1965. While I absolutely loved every date I went on with her, I especially enjoyed the times we spent on the isolated beach south of the cabanas at Crandon Park on Key Biscayne. That was a true tropical paradise back then with only an occasional person walking by at the surfline.

Marie, thank you for writing and I'm sorry for the 4.5 years delay in responding but I just saw your comments for the first time. Growing up in Miami in the 1950's and 60's was just great in my book. I know that the 1960's were the best decade of my life, especially the mid-1960's. If I had to pick a year that was the best year of my life I would pick 1965 when I was a senior in high school and the year that I dated Mary Ann in the photo.

Haulover was our favorite beach when we were little because it had the tunnel under the street. We couldn't wait to get into the tunnel so we could shout and hear our voices bouncing off the walls. I love the memories of Miami in the 60's and can't imagine growing up anywhere else! Thank you so much for these wonderful pictures.
