Burger Chef Restaurants was founded in 1957 in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1958 they started to franchise out locations across the country. The chain was sold in 1969 to General Foods of New York and continue to operate as Burger Chef until 1981 when the chain was sold to Hardee's.
