Thank you to Alvin Lederer for contributing this great old image of an Eagle Army-Navy store in St. Petersburg. Thank you to Tom Beech for sending me an old news article about the opening of the store in a group of stores anchored by a new Zayre department store. I never knew this but the article mentions that Eagle Army-Navy was a wholly owned subsidiary of Lum's Inc., the Miami-based restaurant chain who had acquired Eagle Army-Navy in a stock swap. See http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=950&dat=19680919&id=kldQAAAAIBAJ&sjid=RFcDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6101,3716532 to read the article.
Eagle Army-Navy had numerous similar stores all over the county and prices there were pretty cheap in comparison to other stores. I used to frequent the one in the 600 block of W. 49th Street (Palm Springs Mile) next to the Royal Castle on the northwest corner of the intersection.
