“Coming to Watson’s and ignoring the pies is like coming to Florida and closing your eyes” from the placemats as I recall.

During the 1960's, I was Arlene B and living nearby and worked for AT&T as a telephone operator. I'm now in Virginia Beach, VA.

Watson's Restaurant was my absolute favorite and especially their KEY LIME PIE!! I've never had any better than theirs. While washing dishes today, I remembered Watson's Key Lime pie and wondered if they were still in business. Thank you foT this site! It's great reminiscing and reading all the good comments about them and their famous Pie!

It would be great if their family's newer generations kept the recipe and still sold it. ...Think I'll search more online...I can dream, right? Mmm!

My parents would take me to Watson’s as a little kid. I always ordered their corn fritters. It was 1963-64 when I was 4-5. I can still remember sitting at the table in a booth.

Jack, you're right. I always ask the servers what color their Key Lime pie is and if they say green I tell them no thanks. Green is almost always awful and never delicious. It's a shame that 90% of the restaurants selling Key Lime pie screw it up somehow. I fell in love with Tyler's Restaurants Key Lime Bisque back in the '50's and early '60's and it spoiled me forever. Our housekeeper/cook made homemade Key Lime pie from our Key Lime bush that was about 95% as good and I ate a ton of it growing up. There was also a Jon's Steakhouse in Hialeah at Red Road and Okeechobee Road in the 1970's that must have had Tyler's' recipe because their Key Lime pie was just as good as Tyler's Key Lime Bisque. Unfortunately Jon's, and Tyler's chain, did not survive and I haven't found a restaurant yet that is as good as them.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger when it comes to outstanding long-term memory vs. dismal short-term memory - my wife and I have the same problem and I have numerous friends our age who share the problems too and some who have lost their long-term memories. One of the several reasons I started this site was to help preserve old memories not only for me but for many others our age. And regarding keys, I put a hook next to the front door for my wife's keys and another for my keys and those hooks have literally saved us hundreds of hours of searching for the keys along with all the periods of frustration and anxiety over the years.

Thanks for posting on the site!

Don

best key-lime pie ever, natural yellow color, no green food color, flaky crust, not graham cracker,
I can remember 50 years back but can't remember where I put the car keys

They had the tastiest pancakes ever! I would eat them each day before I went to work at Woolworths or Eagles Store in Little River after a fun day at Edison High..

It was the Rosetta Theatre which has been torn down.

Was this the same restaurant by the same name that was located at NE 127 Street and West Dixie Hwy in the 1970-80's?
