A new building for Shorty's was erected at the same location after the fire. Shorty's has several locations in South Florida now and they offer the same fine barbecue delights, and darn good Key Lime pie in my book, as they did in the 1950's. Anyone returning to the Miami area to see what it looks like now should make it a point to have a great lunch or dinner at one of the Shorty's in the area. http://www.shortys.com/

My name is Mike Gordon and my mother and I were vacationing in Miami in 77. I was 15 and Mom was there bowling in a tournament while I frolicked about the day till dinner time where she slipped a note under my hotel room every morning to meet her somewhere. Well, when I was to meet her here I thought perhaps she made a mistake. I was treated to a Kings fill when I mentioned my name. Very nice man and the food was outstanding. Sad to know it's closed it was a highlight reel for the memory.
