Late 1960's From a postcard

Late 1960's - Concourse 4 and the 20th Street Terminal at Miami International Airport

Miami International Airport, Florida

This image was cropped from a late 1960's postcard of the airport. It depicts Concourse 4 (later renamed to Concourse E in the mid 1970's) which was the only international concourse at the terminal. All of the jet bridges were nose-loader types so aircraft parked further out from the concourse had to be loaded and off-loaded on the ramp. The old Port Authority 20th Street Ramp Office is visible on top of the end of the concourse. We used that office until the early to mid 1980's when the entire old concourse was demolished and rebuilt.

The National Airlines maintenance base is visible on the left side and it appears that construction of the huge new hangar has not started.
