My mother’s absolute favorite place to eat! I grew up in Miami, didn’t leave til ‘69. My mom passed away years ago but I have never forgotten this place. I have not returned to the South Fl area in over 40 yrs. I’m sure it has changed a lot. I still remember Sears where you could buy candy, my mom would give us 25 cents each and they would weigh out just that much and put it in a little bag. My mother actually worked for Sears in Buckhead, Ga from late 60’s til she retired.

My family went there in the '60s for special occasions. We lived many miles south but it was well worth the drive. It was fun to chat with Duke himself. Does anyone know when and why it closed?

P.S. Like another poster, I attended Palmetto High, Class of 1969.

My dad always took us to Mansene's for special occasions. I remember so well the day I graduated from Miami-Palmetto Sr High. It was in May of 1966. Mom, Dad, Nonna and I all headed to Mansene's for the best Lasagna and homemade Minestrone outside of my Nonna's kitchen. After I was married, my husband and I continued the tradition, at every annniversary. I miss this place, and seeing the Duke come out to greet us as well. It's sad to think it may just be a thing of the past now.
