1966 - Mrs. Mary Strickland (later Smith) and Mrs. Margaret Walther at Catalina Cleaners honoring Hialeah boys in the military

Catalina Cleaners, Palm Avenue, Hialeah, Florida

Thank you to Larry Coppala for contributing this great old image. Larry is pictured on the display board under the red "v" on the right side.

Mary Strickland (later Mary Smith) ran Catalina Cleaners for many years and she was a wonderful friend. I took my Coast Guard uniforms and other items in every month for my reserve drill weekends during the 1970's and 80's and she was a real sweetheart of a person. I have often wondered whatever happened to her for many years and it's really great for Larry to send this photo for display on my site.

Freida, thank you for writing, it's good to hear from someone who knew Mary and to hear of your mom working there too!

Mary Strickland was a very good friend of my mothers. As a matter of fact my mother "Bea Brown" as they called her also worked at the Catalina Cleaners for many years. My precious mother also has since passed. Miss her dearly. Thanks for the memories. Freida Brown Dyer.

Okay Mike, thanks for responding. I thought it was a probability since Worley isn't that common but I guess not.

Hi Don, Joe Worley and me are not related that I know of. There was a family of Worley's in Miami Springs that I know of, but we are not related.

Thank you for writing, Mike. I knew a Joe Worley back at HHS in the mid-60's. Any kin to you?

Mrs. Stickland was a very close friend of our family's. She moved back to North Carolina in the eighties. She has now since passed, but I will never forget all the kind things she did for our family including taking my sister and I to church on Sundays.
