making a sacrifice to gods of the Plateau

Thank God i had another lens at the time!!!

nikon 18-135 G lens is very weak... i buried it there, breaked in two

It turned out, that two parts of the lens body are joined with latches only
so after a slack blow their unlocked and the tails broke off

As a result the following 14 days i was shooting with Sigma 10-20 only, which i took in foot part of the trip after big doubts upon a redundant weight

1/40s f/7.1 at 20.0mm iso320 full exif

Have taken over 3000 shots with same lens, and still going strong. The key is keep it dry and clean.

...must be Karma. Not 15 minutes after I posted the comment below I went to check my 18-55, as a backup for my next trip. Dead. Talk about weak - never left the pelican case the last trip, the focus motor must have got shaken a bit too much. Shouldn't have laughed.

That sucks. Really, can't help but laugh and at least you followed the first rule of backpacking photography ...you have to bring back-up.
Good shot.
Reminds me of a few war shots I've seen, with the dead bloated body bobbing in the water...

This is a dreadful lens, and I am sure this sacrifice wouldn't get you, guys, to Valhalla this easily, ahahahahaahahaaa

Wow, the lesson is; always take a spare or a light weatherproof wideangle compact......
