I surprised myself! Sharpened the heck out of the image by using the maximum sharpening settings in Harald Heim's FocalBlade plug-in and then with Smart Sharpen. Then used PaintEngine to make it more painterly. Then I used a feather lasso to copy parts of the foliage and paste them over the tree stump, because it was too distracting. I flipped the images and used the smudge tool to help them blend. Added a very small amount of sandstone texture and a bit of noise.
