Loony bin
This was part of the vigil behind the White House.
It was a mothers day protest going on.
I took this a while after midnight.
Now first I will say I agree with the sentiment.
Everyone should say no to war.
Well, unless it is necessary (no need to be a pussy).
The guy in the cart took it to another level though.
He just does not like the government.
And boy, did he have some theories about it.
He regaled me with the "facts".
Like that the government has concentration camps for us.
They are just waiting for the excuse to lock us all up.
Really, they are all set up and he knows someone.
Or the fact that they found explosives in the dust of 9/11.
He could whip out underground newspapers to prove it.
Pulled them right out of his pocket to show me.
"Buildings just don't fall down".
Well I talked with him for a while until he scared me a bit.
He did not like any sense of logic in the conversations.
But that is not what this one is about.
I love the fact that he can say all this.
That is a great part about this country.
He can stand a couple hundred yards away from the president.
He can spew out complete lunacy and it is totally legal.
In fact it is encouraged by our constitution.
But the thing I question is, has this ever worked?
He has been an activist for over 20 years.
And in that time has he done any good?
Has he changed a single mind he was trying to change?
He can discuss his protests, but has he changed any minds?
And that is the problem with doing this serially.
He is not actually able to make things better.
Can you imagine what he could have done?
If you took 20 years of your time what could YOU do?
It is not the government you guys should protest.
How about you take this effort and build something?
You could change the whole world with a small change.
Maybe start a company and build it up?
Then you could become the man of change.
Take all your profits and feed people.
Or maybe build a better electric car?
Take all the loony engineers analyzing dust and do that.
Sell it for about 10 grand and everyone would buy it.
All of a sudden we would not need foreign oil.
And once we don't need that the tension might end.
Or you could just jabber to me in Washington DC.
Yeah, that will help you meet your goals.
It was the whole reason we invaded Iraq in the first place.
So if you feel so strong about saying no to war,
take away the reasons the government said yes.
PS: If this entry offends you feel free to comment below.
If you agree you can leave that message as well.
As long as you keep it civil I will let it stay.
Even if I disagree with you view.
In fact even if you are the loon bin himself.
