Goodbye Circuit City

This was one of the last nights the sign was lit.
The liquidator had liquidated most of the gear.
It was down to the dregs and the bitters.
And how did this happen?
Well I am just going to opinionate on that.
The obvious one was competition.
People can now shop online for anything.
You can compare prices and look around.
All from the comfort of your home.
That probably hurt sales a lot.
But there was more than that going on.
It was rough to hear them push extended guarantees.
The would say how you don't want to leave without them.
Just think if anything happens it will be junk.
The pressure made you not want to buy there.
When sales were getting rough a few years ago,
they started expanding their stores.
They opened new locations and tried for scale.
Unfortunately those updates were in vain.
Then they brought out their services, Firedog.
That became the new push for them and they pushed.
I think that drove people away because really,
if you are buying something who needs the extra pressure.
Of course I have stuff from there as well.
Two of my cameras were from Circuit City.
When you knew what you wanted and how much, it was fine.
So in the end, they are now gone.
It was amazing how fast they cleaned out inventory.
No matter the economy, if stuff is a bargain, it moves.
They cleared out 1.7 BILLION dollars worth of stuff.
And every bit of it sold like wildfire.
Sure, it was selling at a loss, but that was normal for them.
Turn out the lights, the party is over.
Goodbye CC.
