Hi, I'm lost

How many of these are ever returned.
You walk somewhere and see a glove.
You pick it up and put it on a fence.
Maybe on a meter of something.
You make it as obvious as you can.
And then you hope the owner walks by.
I wonder how many times this happens each winter.
Single and abandoned gloves on fences.
I have seen at least a dozen this year alone.
Will the mate be discarded when the owner gets home?
Or do people save the mismatched one.
Maybe combine it with a mismatch from another pair.
So many events in motion because someone dropped a glove.
