Reflections on ice

The destination was reached,
but the journey was not over.
With each destination another is shown.
Another aspect of life is revealed.
Another journey to explore and see.
That is the greatness of life.
You can never do everything.
You can never know everything.
No matter how much you learn there is more.
No matter how much you see, there is more.
In this life I will never know everything.
I could never experience everything.
There is no way to see everything.
Yet, I keep learning and seeing.
Some places that you have been change.
They can look different at different times.
There is always more to do here.
And yet as I stand shivering on this river bank,
the frozen water before me in shimmering hues,
I felt so small.

As I walked back down the street,
back to my truck parked at the side of the road,
I felt as if I had grown larger this last week.
I thought I had learned important lessons.
And after the truck has started,
and warmth bellowed from the vents,
I felt good.

Wherever your journey takes you, be well.
