_MG_2128_victims in river.jpg

As one observer pointed out, the river was not all THAT deep where the women fell into the river. My estimation, from years of river fishing and looking at my additional 75 frames is that the river was waist deep on a 6-foot man at about the deepest spot where they landed, or LESS,so basically, shallowish water is what the train knocked them into. At the mid-point of the pool, the water was only about knee-deep on the women and their rescuers. The distance from the railroad trestle to the river below was, I would estimate no more than about 15 feet.I took this shot at a pretty telephoto setting,as fast as I could. This is a full-frame,uncropped shot of them as they kind of splutter and spit and get their bearings just a moment after they had just "popped up". The woman with the white top was the person who the train actually impacted, and she had minor bleeding which the EMT personnel were able to stop and treat and bandage within about eight minutes. The woman in the maroon-colored top was seated in front of her companion on the I-beam,and she hurt her ankle or foot in the accident. The rescue personnel got there really fast.
