As nightfall drew nearer, I was intrigued by the slowly setting crescent moon. I knew I needed some kind of foreground object to silhouette,so I chose this tall climbing plant. Somebody had asked me a few days earlier about the value of vibration reduction....this is the type of situation where VR really comes in handy...at a quarter to 10 PM outdoors....I shot wide-open at 1/15th second with the lens zoomed to 173mm, and manually focused on the junction of the plant and the moon. Although the image exhibits some serious noise, due in large part to my over-zealous sharpening for the web,and my low threshold value, I still like this image.
