DSCF3966_1200x.JPG

A flight of geese preparing to land.I had just bought this used lens about 20 minutes before I made this photo at a pull-in-and-park wildlife refuge observation area. It was very, very gusty and windy, and the geese were flying in about 70 yards from the observation area. This is a full-frame web reduction of the in-camera JPEG capture. I shot other shots besides this, and was very, very impressed with the infinity focus sharpness of this zoom, even at f/5.6. Very, very sharp images at distances of 800 yards to approximately five miles. I could discern species and sex of duck resting on the water at about 800-1200 yards I'd say, with "greenhead" mallards clearly discernable from hens as they sat on the pond in the distance.
