New Crocodile Park Dedicated To Steve Irwin
New Park Will Be Home To 46 Crocodiles
NEYYAR, India -- A new Indian crocodile park dedicated to the memory of TV's "Crocodile Hunter," Steve Irwin, will open soon.
The new park is located in southern India and is home to 46 crocodiles.
Forty-five of the crocodiles are of a species common to the Kerala region of India. The other one is an estuarine crocodile, a slightly larger animal.
The park was designed by India's Central Zoo Authority and will feature a lot of greenery. There also is a plaque at the entrance that features a likeness of Irwin with a crocodile.
All of the animals will be kept "in big ponds to give more freedom to the animals," said Radha Krishnan Nair, the park's wildlife warden. "This is a new concept."
