Gethsemane Hall is a very unique structure, not just for York but
also for Pennsylvania in General. Described as Neo-Norman in design,
it is essentially a mini-castle, complete with towers and battlements.
(Battlement – A specialized wall with high and low parapets, originally
built for military purposes to provide both protection and an
opening to fire arrows) The stone structure, which falls within
the Richardson Romanesque Style, was built in 1918 as a
Masonic Temple after the local Masons purchased the Old York Post Office next door.
