One of over six hundred shots taken of the 2007 Gettysburg Bike Weekend. Like the Rolling Thunder event in DC on Memorial Day, this annual event draws thousands of bikers from all over. I've never seen so many Harley's in my life. On Saturday evening, bikes roll from just outside town, down Emmitsburg Road, to and around Lincoln Square, and back again. Thousands of Gettysburg residents, tourists, and others lined the road for well over a mile, cheering the endless stream of chrome and leather rumbling through the town. Rather than fight the crowds, I positioned myself on a fence post on Emmitsburg Road about a mile outside town. This gave me the rolling vista of the road and the Gettysburg battlefield as a backdrop. For this shot I was standing right in the middle of the road with bikes flowing past on either side of me. What a blast -- and I'm not even a biker.
