5/9/05 - Azalea Antennae
ds20050509_0030awF Azalea.jpg

Germantown, MD

There must be a million varieties of azalea -- at least I've taken about that many pictures of the things. The DC area seems to be particularly welcome to azaleas, and this is the time of year to see them on display. I think the most interesting part of the azalea blossoms are the multiple stamens snaking out of each one. It's fun trying to single out individual blossoms in a bush containing thousands.

PS - Crop; Extract blossom from background; Adjust color and levels on the blossom; Tweak contrast a little; Insert black-filled layer between the blossom on the original background; Adjust opacity; Sign, Frame, and down-rez.
