12/11/04 - Fading Glory

I really need to water my plants a little more regularly. Now I guess I'll have to use this pot of posies as a metaphor for oncoming winter rather than smiles and sunshine. I think I need to find someone who does this better than I do.

PS - Crop to isolate one blossom. Minor color and contrast adjustment. Use Posterize (3 colors) to create second version. Apply a radial gradient with transparency to create two addional versions, one with each of the initial two versions. Frame.

Four versions:

Jude, Thanks. I don't normally write down what I do -- which means I reinvent the wheel a lot. Part of the reason for noting the PS work in my narrative is to help remind me as well as let others know, if they care. Still those notes are sometimes abbreviated and sometimes only what I *remember* that I did. I actually started doing it because Angela's PS notes were so helpful to me. It'd be nice if more people would include such notes, especially those who have achieved such wonderful effects (read Jude, Jeanne, Angela, etc.).

Now, when are you going to tell me what you do to get the incredible creamy effects in so many of your SPs. I'm starting to think that you must have a PS action labeled "Drive all the guys crazy". C'mon, fess up.

I like the reverse spotlight effect on this image.. well done. Do you write down what you are doing in PS? I really just fidget until i get what I want.. then I think.. CRAPPPPPPPP.. how will i do that again?

I love what you did to this picture and even more that you explained how you got this result. For someone like me that is very helpful. You revived that plant very nicely in your photography. See, it does not need any water, only some PS ;)
