11/16/04 - Adopt Me

Rockville, MD

This is an older Australian shepherd I photographed at the Montgomery County (MD) Animal Shelter. She seems to have been a "give-up", which is a real shame. (I don't actually know the details or circumstances, so I shouldn't jump to any conclusions.) With all the animals that come into the shelter every day, I don't know how long I will be able to maintain an "objective" volunteer; you just can't look into the eyes of (most of) these animals without making a connection.

There is another version of this shot at:http://www.pbase.com/image/36455058

and unenhanced shots of other animals at the shelter at: http://www.pbase.com/dsteinauer/mcas_1

Beautiful doggie portrait Dennis.. i cannot believe how gorgeous her sweet face is. She seems to be just posing for you. Love the shadowed lighting here.. it's perfect.

Aussie Sheps are such an awesome dog. I met a woman that has an A.S. Kennel somewhere in Northern California. The Female she had with her was so well mannered and trained, I commented on how much better the dog was acting than the child that was having a fit 10 feet away. Great shot!
