9/27/04 - Old Barn

Berryville, VA

This is an old (red) barn in the field next to the place I go with my dog to herd sheep. I took this on an early, misty morning, thus the somewhat dreary look. As with photos of a lot of "old" things, this looked better (to me, anyway) in b&w.

PS - Crop. Increase contrast. Convert to monotone (w/channel mixer). Frame.

Good idea on the sepia -- not sure why I didn't do that to begin with. (I spent a couple hours last night trying to bring back just the red in the barn, but just haven't been able, yet, to get a decent effect. And I thought I was a pretty clever Photoshopper. So much, much to learn.)

I like the misty look too. Did you post one in color? To me, a second one in BW with the red barn kind of painted in might look interesting.
