Ceiling at Metro Center station, Washington, DC. I think almost anyone who has seen the Metro's primary underground stations is struck by the beauty of the tunnel ceiling and walls. I particularly like the geometric patterns created at the junction of two tunnel sections as seen here. (Anyone who ever took mechanical drawing/drafting in high school will remember how such patterns emerged when drawing intersecting ductwork or other shapes.)
PS - Desaturate and colorize with Hue/Saturation adjustment dialog. This color is certainly not representative of the actual station ceiling (which is concrete with a subtle orangeish (yellow?, tan?, red?, beige?) lighting. I just liked this cooler blue.
First day of DC touring with Karen Leaf. Some images from the day. Not sure which I'll leave and which I'll move to extras. Compromising shots of Karen being saved up.
