Stone Meadow -- the name we've given our house and property. The house was built around 1795; the property, who knows? We are constantly reminded of the history this house has seen, and we're thankful we are able to be part of that history. The name? It's an interesting confluence of events, history, and language. The stones used to build the house were quarried from the meadow that comprises most of the property -- down to the boulder in the basement that was built around since it was too large to remove. My family name, Steinauer, means stone pasture or stone meadow. We thought it was a wonderful coincidence. Also, I've always wanted to have a home with a name, not just and address -- and the Lazy S ranch didn't seem appropriate.
Other photos of the house and property are in the gallery Stone Meadow.
