noisestrip.jpg

This comparison shows sections of a 1600 ISO A100 shot: left, Linear, No Auto, default conversion at native size using ACR 3.4 with no sharpening, no noise reduction (totally flat conversion). Centre left: same, but exported to 2.8 megapixels size, 2048 pixels wide, suitable for A5/7 x 5 inch print. Centre right: same, but exported to 17 megapixels size, 5120 pixels wide, suitable for A3/10 x 15 inch print. Right: the camera's own in-camera JPEG, at native size. In my opinion the in-camera process recovers superior colour and detail with excellent noise reduction. Others appear to have found differently, perhaps because they are trying very hard to do so.

other sizes: small medium original auto
