Shortly afterwards a "First Fleet" ferry arrives. The 11 ferries of this class, serving the harbour,
were introduced in the bicentenary year of 1988. Each one bears the name of one of the original
fleet of 11 sailing vessels which carried convicts, soldiers and free settlers to New South Wales
in 1978. This one is called the "Alexander" after the largest transport ship in that voyage. It was
all of 114 feet long and 451 tons, pretty much the same size as the "Endeavour" and not much bigger
than this actual Sydney ferry.
