Strictly speaking, the "SS South Steyne" isn't part of the museum but stands as an icon of Sydney
Harbour ferry travel. She was the largest ferry to operate on Sydney Harbour and the last steam
driven vessel to do so, carrying passengers between Circular Quay and Manly from 1938 to 1974. She
crossed between Circular Quay and Manly over 100,000 times in her 36 years of service, carrying
well in excess of 92 million passengers. Today she is a floating restaurant and one of Darling
Harbour's favourite attractions.
