A friend of mine has lent me a wonderful old Pentax S1. Actually, at first, I thought it was a 1962 SV,
famously the model that each of the Beatles bought for themselves when said camera was just about the
best thing available. Actually it turns out to be an even rarer beast - an S1, which was being manufactured
as early as 1961. Curiously, it came with an f2 55mm "semi-automatic" lens. Once an exposure was
made, you had to flick a little slider on the lens barrel so that the aperture ring would become
operable again. It predates the first of the famous "Spotmatics" which didn't emerge until 1964.
Isn't it beautiful?

fascinating way to work! I am more connected with digital, but understand the nostalgia of such another Era alongwith its deeply committed camera men & women. Sent with honouring to that era. Thanks David.

Very nice David, I hope you have fun with it.
The difference between the engineering of that Pentax and the electronics in modern cameras is immediate, and for the worse in terms of progress I think.
