The walk took us down many hundreds of feet into the Jamison along the Federal Pass from Solitary
Point, past Echo Point, The Giant Staircase, The Furber Steps and The Katoomba Falls toward the
"steepest railway in the world" (an old coal ore hauling system converted to tourist use) called the
"Scenic Railway" which carried us back up to civilisation. The route passes through ferny rainforest
and a series of waterfalls including the bottom part of the Linda and Lila Falls.
Now I suppose that one should either shoot falling water at half a second (or so) shutter speed or
else a five hundredth or less. The light was dim and the going was generally too tough to carry a
heavy tripod conveniently. I therefore had to try my luck at slow handheld shutter speeds which DO
give a sense of plunging motion. I sort of liked the effect and so I thought I'd share a few images.
