Another image looking north with the sun shining on the silver breakers. Mona Vale appears to represent a
topographical transition between earlier, more northerly, sections and those further south. Originally the
narrow sandy beaches stood at the feet of tall cliffs between towering headlands. Now the cliffs will give way to
alluvial plains and coastal lagoons, the headlands will be shorter and the cosy secluded stretches
of beach will grow to many kilometres at a stretch.
