(Rice cake, on top of rice.). This proverb is used to encourage moderation by pointing out flamboyant excess. To truly understand the significance of "dduk" (rice cake) in Korean culture, especially when used in proverbs, outsiders should envision solid gold nuggets in place of rice cake.

This proverb takes "icing on the cake" to the next level so it reminds me of a concours class 1934 Cadillac 452D V16 Fleetwood Convertible I saw on the lawn of Pebble Beach. A comparable luxury sedan made today might be the Rolls Royce Phantom or Maybach 62 both of which cost nearly $500k (except neither of them have 16-cylinders or a convertible top).
