We can see Denali!

From our train, which took us from Whittier, Alaska, to Denali National Park, we had an awesome view of Mount Denali (aka Mt. McKinley. On occasion, when the view was a particularly nice one, the engineer would slow or stop the train, as happened here, with a spectacularly clear view of the southeast face of the mountain.

Regarding Donald's comment, below - thanks for the information about the original name of the mountain. Although I've been to Alaska before, I'll put myself into a couple of categories - a "greenie" and an "other."

I've been interested in history for a long time (it was my college major). So I'm aware of the offical name of the peak - official in the sense it's the name recognized by the U.S. Government. However, the name of the mountain that is official to me - and to so many people - is Denali.

I learned about the peak while reading accounts of climbing expeditions in the 1970s. At the time, most climbers seemed to use the appellation "Denali," and that's probably why I prefer it. Denali, particularly to the non-American Indian ear, sounds more appropriate than the name of a long-dead president.

Frankly, I'd be more receptive to Mount Roosevelt, since Teddy, who followed McKinley, was an important "greenie."

Nice. Almost looks like two shots, the way the mountain fades away at the base.
