To quote James Cagney, "Top of the world, Ma!" This is the summit of Split Mountain, a little over 14,000 feet, in the Sierra Nevada, California - I made the climb, with a few good friends, in the mid 1970s. (The rarely climbed south summit of Split, which we would ascend on a later visit to the mountain, is to the right.)
