Wavy Top Snail (Astraea undosa)

These large snai1s often exceed five inches in diameter. The wavy top is characterized by a conical-shaped shell with an undulating expanded edge. The whorls are characterized by raised vertical ridges. Although it is often found on exposed rocks, the wavy top is often inconspicuous because of the growth of various algae and encrusting animals on the shell surface. The operculum is quite large and thick and bears three strong ridges.
