The low-tide zone is uncovered only a few hours each month.Only the lowest "minus" tides, extending below the mean low-tide level, expose this marine jungle. The low-tide zone is most like the deeper marine environment, and very few animals are exposed to the limiting factors that are prevalent in the upper zones. Almost every square inch of the substrate is covered with rockweeds, corallines, and various brown algae. A rich and varied fauna is found in this zone.
