Tan Peanut Worm (Themiste pyroides)

Point Loma

These small worms live in the sand, in muddy cracks between rocks, and in mussel beds. They are about two inches long in a contracted state, but can expand to about three times this length when they are feeding upon small particulate materials with their extended tentacles on the anterior end of their body.

Originally taken with a film camera, these were scanned from my slides and converted. full exif
