Thatched Barnacle (Tetraclita squamosa rubescens)

Point Loma

The conical, brick-red, thatched barnacle is nearly twice the size of the acorn barnacle. It is more solitary in habit but may be found along with acorn barnacles on exposed rock surfaces. These animals feed in much the same manner as the acorn barnacles.
