La construction du palais coûta 100 000 écus d’or. Lorsque Jacques Coeur, tombé en disgrâce, fut emprisonné, le palais fut confisqué, avec tout son mobilier, par le roi Charles VII, qui en était jaloux.
Il n'est jamais bon de rendre jaloux un plus puissant que soi. L'Histoire est plein d'exemples de ce type.

The construction of the palace cost 100,000 gold « Ecus » (more or less 100 000 000 euros, enormous amount for the times). When Jacques Coeur fell into disgrace and was imprisoned, the palace was confiscated, with all its furniture, by King Charles VII, who was jealous of it.
It is never good to make jealous one more powerful than oneself. History is full of examples of this kind.
