Avignon - Le Palais des Papes.

Vaucluse - Provence.

Le Palais des Papes d'Avignon est la plus grande des constructions gothiques du Moyen Âge.
À la fois forteresse et palais, la résidence pontificale fut pendant le XIVe siècle le siège de la chrétienté d'Occident.
Depuis 1995 Le Palais des Papes et le centre historique d’Avignon sont classés sur la liste du Patrimoine Mondial de l’Unesco.


The Popes' Palace of Avignon is the biggest of Gothic constructions of the Middle Ages.
At the same time fortress and palace, the papal residence was during the XIV th century the seat of the West Christendom.
Since 1995 The Popes' Palace and the historic center of Avignon are classified on the list of Unesco’s world heritage.
