Artistry in jungle clearing. Many thanks to Dan Pierce for providing both the photo and the following information. His question was finally answered in that this particular swath of jungle was up near the Cambodian border, near FSB Haymaker:
I served as a crew chief on C-123 K’s at NKP Thailand 70-71 (606th Special Operations Squadron – Candlesticks) . I took a snapshot (from about 8,000 ft.) during a day mission into South Vietnam of an insignia of the Big Red One which had been carved out of the Vietnamese jungle. I have been trying to learn the location of the photo from former pilots or anyone that may have served with the Army’s 1st Div. in Vietnam. I would be glad to email you a copy of the picture. I believe it would be of interest and should be in your archives.
Thanks for any help with this photo ID.
